Mayan Ruins
Western Belize is perhaps most famous for the lofty ruins of Xunantunich, Caracol, and Cahal Pech. Immerse yourself in antiquity as you explore these ancient sites, the farthest of which is located approximately 1 hour’s drive away from Belmopan. Trips to Tikal in Guatemala are also available.
The Belize Zoo
Dubbed ‘The Best Little Zoo in the World’, the Belize Zoo showcases the best of local wildlife in a rustic, jungle setting. Founded with wildlife that had been left in captivity after a film shoot, the zoo is dedicated to providing a safe haven for wild animals that have been left injured or uncared for.
Cave Exploration/Tubing
Take a glimpse into the sacred, underworld caverns of the Maya by exploring Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), Barton Creek Cave, or Jaguar Paw. You’ll get to see Mayan remains and relics, left over from ancient rituals. Belize’s cave systems are extensive and connect parts of Central America.
St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park
A colorful sinkhole that appears to shimmer with too many shades of blue to count, St. Herman’s is an excellent place for a picnic, hike, and/or swim. Cave exploration is also available nearby.
Snorkeling
With just an hour’s drive to the coast, the best of Belize’s marine adventures are easily accessible from Belmopan. Snorkel in the crystal clear, pristine waters of the Caribbean, or relax on the sandy white beaches of the cayes. Day trips can be arranged by us.
Zip Lining
For the more adventurous, Belize’s zip line tours take you cruising through the jungle canopy. Some of Belize’s best zip lining is located a short, scenic drive away from Belmopan, through the picturesque hills of the Hummingbird Highway.
